It is usually hereditary, which is why it is necessary to constantly monitor the situation, especially if there is a history of the disease in the family. If you are scheduled for blood collection, please keep in mind a few basic rules that will assure correct results. Starting at around 4 p.m. on the day before collection, you should limit the intake of certain foods such as alcohol, chocolate, and nuts and avoid demanding physical activity as both could distort the results. A light diet is recommended. It is advisable to drink a larger quantity of water or unsweetened tea (at least a quarter of a litre) before leaving home.
